Variations

The second activity is focused on identifying the musical theme and variations of the theme.

• Students/artists view video files file and watch and listen to Pachelbel's Canon in D Major.
• Students/artists listen and see how the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet play the original piece and then several variations of the piece.
• Students/artists compare the variations the LA Guitar Quartet and how each was different yet the same.
• Students/artists compare the LA Guitar Quartet and Gene's versions.

This version of Pachelbel's Canon in D Major is preformed by the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and is titled Pachelbel's "Loose" Canon.

The quartet performs the classical version of Pachelbels' Canon and then performs several variations.
